How safe are platform lifts?
VPLs offer your home a sense of freedom and safety on par with or even above other units like a wheelchair ramp or stair lift. With a high walls, obstruction sensors, and a reliable power system, these lifts are extremely safe for home.
Are these lifts durable?
Wheelchair lifts are made from highly resilient materials making them great for indoor our outdoor use. Outdoor units also have extra protection from rain and snow. These units are built to last with little maintenance needed.
Will a vertical platform lift cost me a good deal of money?
These pieces of mobility equipment are more expensive than other devices like stair lifts or ramps. The base price is around $9000 and can quickly increase in price with add-ons.
Is it possible for a porch lift to work inside my home as well?
Despite the name, porch lifts can work on the outside and inside of your home. Inside lifts have different model options from outside lifts and come with different add-ons.
Will I need any construction work done for the lift?
For almost all VPLs you will need to have some form of construction work done for the foundation of the unit. If it is an inside model more work and space may be required.
Is customization available for a wheelchair lift?
You can request your vendor or manufacturer for extra features at a cost. Some of these add-ons can include, full enclosure, higher gates, higher quality batteries, and emergency kits.
Do I need batteries for one?
Some VPLs can come with batteries as their power supply while others have to be plugged into the wall by default. Keep in mind you can request for an internal power source and have your unit work during a power outage.
Are there any warranty plans?
A new platform lift usually comes with a limited warranty plan up to 1 year covering major parts. If you wish to have an extended warranty or maintenance plan you can contact your supplier for more info.
